Fiat 500 Abarth Price Announced

Fiat 500 Abarth Price Announced

Fiat has finally come back from Italy with a price for the US version of the Fiat 500 Abarth: $22,000. This puts the Abarth about $1,000 less than the Mini Cooper S and $2,000 less than the Volkswagen GTI. A very smart price point indeed, although I’m sure many will argue that is still too expensive. Not to mention with the upcoming 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo (price unknown), and a possible turbo version of the Toyota/Subaru FR-S, there is plenty of stiff competition for the Abarth.

“Seduction” Digital Spot Reaches Nearly 3 Million YouTube Views
The 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth and its digital spot titled “Seduction” made their debuts at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show. The 60-second social media spot promoting the 500 Abarth seduced more than 1 million YouTube viewers in its first week and now has reached nearly 3 million views. Without having ever been aired on television or cable networks, it has rapidly spread through the web and gained global attention.

It represents the unique characteristics of the Fiat 500 Abarth as a sensual and strikingly stunning model and takes a peek at what happens the first time a customer encounters the race-ready vehicle. The spot ends with a sexy and edgy message, “The Fiat 500 Abarth. You’ll never forget the first time you see one.”

The “Seduction” digital spot was created in partnership with The Richards Group and can be viewed at the FIAT brand’s YouTube site or via the following link: http://www.youtube.com/fiatusa

Ok, we have a price of $22k. Add a reasonable delivery, prep, etc charge of $500 or so, and options to $25k or so. Fine. However, I’ve heard talk that now that the Abarth has started to get some “buzz”, Chrysler/FIAT has given dealers the go-ahead to add a “premium” to the price, sometimes as much as several $k. Are they trying to shoot themselves in BOTH feet? That’s right, piss off the enthusiasts that they need to spread the word, keep the flagship car off the street as much as possible, give the marque that “sleazy car dealership” aura that FIAT is supposedly trying to lose, and price the car up with other cars with better performance. Way to go.

    I hope I’m wrong. I won’t name dealers…yet.

That’s the way GTO was killed

I’ve got a deposit down and I’ve never paid MSRP for a car in my life. If a premium is asked I’m getting my $ back. No way. Not a penny.

        • Mike

I don’t mind paying MSRP for being “first on my block”. I WON’T pay a premium, though.

Seriously, I hope the dumbasses are reading your post. GM dealers killed the GTO with their premiums and now the FIAT dealers might do the same.
Listen, if they put a $5K premium on the Abarth, no one will buy this. People would just go for Mini-S (including myself, who is looking to purchase a new daily driver in a couple months)

Mini S? Save your money and the proprietary BS of bmw parts and get the Hyundai Veloster! Same price range, lotsa bells& whistles, great mpg, and way better looking

          • Mariosoto_13

u probably have then driven a mini s

          • Brody

there is no comparison between mini s and Hyundai period. Hyundai might look good on the outside since they copy deigns from other car makers..

The instant there is any enthusiast interest shown in the Fiat Abarth, the dealers WILL price-gouge. They can’t help themselves….it’s built into their “screw-you” mentality.
Fiat has an excellent chance to overcome the old “Fix It Again, Tony” albatross that still hangs around their corporate neck.  If Fiat/Chrysler can prevent this sticker-abuse, then the car may survive.
Right now the Fiat brand is unproven.  VW GTI, Mini-Cooper, MazdaSpeed, etc. are a given, tested product.
I’ll take one NOW at $22,000.-out the door-but if you choose to greed-out the consumer then just keep the product back home in Italia.

Being a FIAT dealer, we can add a price premium to any car on the lot as we purchase the cars from FIAT so they are rightfully ours until purchased by their new owner. FIAT does not own the cars on dealer lots so they cannot tell the dealers what to charge hence the Manufacturers “Suggested Retail Price, however most dealers as far as I know have no plans on adding a premium to their price especially since most of the ABARTH’s produced this year have already been sold to customers who have deposits

Effen idiots!  Iffin u must by, get used at 60-70% original cost.  They ain’t gonna b collectors items!

  • Guest

Way too expensive for a Fiat, even at $22K. I would not pay more than $11K for a Fiat.

    • Spoondgdsashd

      ur fucking stupid

  • Chefburnett1

how many miles to the gallon?    No mention…must be bad.

    • Fowave

Im from the US living in Germany. I had a 2010 Abarth 500. My observed fuel economy was 27-31 around town and much better on the Autobahn even at higher speeds. Its very very economical and sporting. Its a great car!

    • FiatDave

The combined MPG for the ABARTH is 31

  • Anonymous

That’s way too high for such a small vehicle with so few toys, that STILL eats fossil fuel, and mpg still not in earth-saving levels

  • Hamgilbert

    I want one …. now!!

  • Pghlearjet

they will take this as far as they the dealers can go,,,,,lets be real here the objective is to screw anyone who is interested in this

  • Steve

yeah well a few K more for a subaru WRX… and with many other competitors, who knows.  I still want to drive one, preferable on rainy streets, or full speed in reverse into a dumpster

When this thing does not sell well, I’ll be happy to buy one with the incentives. I mean, it’s adorably cute, stylish, and a blast to drive (reportedly) but it’s lack of interior volume and J. Lo dancing on it, its future here doesn’t seem too bright.

  • tom

i work for fiat, if you knew what i know about these cars and fiat, you’d run away…trust me, dont get involved w/ any fiat deal, you’ll be sorry. (wait til u see how expensive/hard parts will be)

  • Plumpink

That Abarth should be under 20k to really make the buzz… It’s not very powerful, not energy efficient and it’s a Fiat which is far to be, for Europeans, a brand of reliable engine & body corrosion resistant… Yes it is cute and brings you back some memory of the fiat500, but it is far to be enough for the targeted potential buyers. Don’t let some buzz blind you from the market reality or you might just end with a big flop like the Smart did years ago…

Though this one was not even cute but the first idea of it was to make it affordable for everyone like the Swatch watch, but the so called ‘buzz’ it created made the brand go with luxury car prices… Bad move…

  • Robertstarcher

I am driving a Fiat 500 now and loosing interest with a few major flaws! First the automatic transmission is terrible with long periods of between shifts confusion. I have had a few near collisions due to automatic down shifts with no forward propulsion. Now the big one, the engine is not a 100K motor! High revving shifts remind you of past moniker threatening engine noise and no not the good noise. I did have high hopes but alas this one will be rewarded with high cost repairs and parts availability problems. Wana buy mine I’m done with it!

    • Brody_ross

hey Robert did you not see the commercials? this car is for chicks man.. lol

a lot of ladies are not car savvy that’s why they are marketing this car  to them, they don’t know what they are getting

  • Simplyhonda

It will take a lot of good reasons to make me replace my 2000 Acura GSR. Abarth has similar weight, price and hp; but I know the GSR is reliable and Fiat had ???  I hope the Abarth will spark the Japanese car companies to bring over their super micro pocket rockets to the US.
